A BOY I USED TO KNOWI never got the chance to meet Larry Eugene Peterson in person. By the time I got up enough nerve to tell my own story, he had died the year before. Every time I look at the pictures of Larry on his web site, I feel that I know him just about as well as I know myself. He was also an orphan and as a young child, he went through just as much hell as I did. When I look at that picture of him at 11 years old all decked out in what could only be described as ‘a storm-trooper uniform,’ all I see is a innocent 11-year-old boy, just like me and many other orphan kids who were forced to become old soldiers long before our time. In the front of my book, there will be a special dedication to Larry - a song that he wrote shortly before his death. A song that the world would not hear, no matter how loud he tried to cry. It is a song that I would like the entire world to now hear or at least read. Roger Dean Kiser, Sr. "A BOY I USED TO KNOW" I'm a time traveler; I travel back in time. Never to the future, for I'm afraid of what I'll find. I travel back in time, to a time long ago. I travel back to see a boy I used to know. He's a lonely boy, a lost orphan boy. He walks all alone, no one to call his own. No one to care; no one's love to share. He walks all alone, no one to call his own. I'm a time traveler; I travel back in time. Never to the future, for I'm afraid of what I'll find. I travel back in time, to a time long ago. I travel back to see a boy I used to know. I've seen so many tears, all through the years. There was no one to hold him, nor wipe away the tears. It hurt so much to see the boy cry. It hurt so much I wanted to die. I'm a time traveler; I travel back in time. Never to the future, for I'm afraid of what I'll find. I travel back in time, to a time long ago. I travel back to see a boy I used to know. Written by: Larry Eugene Peterson |
